An experimental, audio-based documentary from Set Hernandez, UNSEEN chronicles several years in the life of Pedro, an undocumented and disabled immigrant, as he takes on the physical and social obstacles that threaten his journey to graduate, become a social worker, and provide for his family.

Pedro, a college student studying social work, navigates daily life as a blind and undocumented person. Spanning several years, UNSEEN takes us through Pedro’s intersectional experience and its impact on his mental health. As Pedro devotes himself to achieving his undergraduate degree, the future and his ability to accomplish his goals remain sources of anxiety that weigh heavily on him. But as he continues his commitment to providing care for others, Pedro begins to shed the power his traumas hold over him. Poetically told with sensory intention that places the audience in Pedro’s lived experience, this documentary bears witness to his emotionally candid testimony while creating a more accessible and inclusive cinema.
