Employee Spotlight: Meet DeAnna DeForest

DeAnna DeForest, college & career advisor at College Now, has dedicated her career to empowering students to recognize and achieve their full potential. Her path into education began early, as she engaged in extracurricular activities such as serving on a scholarship board, assisting in classrooms and supporting fellow students throughout high school. These experiences paved the way for her current role, where she continues to make a meaningful impact on students’ lives.

DeAnna’s dedication to leadership and service was evident during her time at Marietta College. . In her first year, she founded a student organization for students of color, recognizing the importance of creating a supportive space – something she deeply valued as a minority in high school. She was also active in Greek life, served as a Resident Assistant in her dorm, participated in work-study programs and held an executive board position in the campus ministry. These experiences not only enriched her college life but also cultivated her leadership skills and deepened her commitment to service.

Reflecting on her time in high school, DeAnna recalls the absence of mentorship in her own life. This experience fuels her passion for her work today. “Young people need support. That is why I do the work I do now,” she emphasizes. She strives to help students recognize their intelligence and potential by meeting them where they are and guiding their growth.

In her role at College Now, DeAnna’s favorite moments are the ones spent engaging directly with students. She values conversations that venture beyond academics, exploring students’ personal goals and identities. Her approach is centered on personal development, ensuring that students feel seen, heard and supported in all aspects of their lives. From being a student who made her own path to a mentor providing guidance, DeAnna’s story shows the impact of mentorship in young people’s lives—personal and educational.
