The Alton LaMaur Character Memorial Scholarship
Purpose: To provide scholarship support for college-bound graduating seniors of Collinwood High School. Must have a 2.5 GPA. Selection decisions are based on academic merit, community involvement, leadership and financial need. Preference given to African Americans and individuals with a skill/interest in violence mediation/prevention.
Eligibility:
• 2.5 GPA
• Plan on attending an accredited nonprofit educational institution
Application Method: Contact Guidance Office, Collinwood High School.
Selection Process: Seniors that exhibit the 7 Railroader Character Traits can be recommended by a teacher, and a selection committee of school personnel will review the recommendations and select scholarship recipients.
Award Info: The award amount will be based on the performance of the fund and number of applicants selected. Past awards have been for $1,000. Award will be paid directly to the institution and must be applied to tuition, fees, books, supplies and/or equipment required for coursework.
Awarded Student Requirements:
1. Maintain full-time enrollment status
2. Email a grade report to the scholarship team for each term.
Renewal: This scholarship is a one-time award and may not be renewed for subsequent years.
