The Cleveland Foundation, in partnership with College Now, offers scholarships to students from Northeast Ohio and beyond. With a wide range of criteria and award types, there’s a scholarship for nearly every student. Best of all, completing just one application gives students the chance to be considered for multiple awards.

A. Grace Lee Mims Vocal Scholarship

An award that aims to provide scholarships to vocal students born, reared or residing in Ohio who are pursuing graduate-level studies in music education and performance with an emphasis on voice at a qualified educational institution. Preference given to a student with interest in the art form of Negro spiritual singing. 

Eligible Students:

  • 2.0 minimum GPA
  • U.S. citizen
  • Born, raised or residing in Ohio
  • Pursuing graduate-level studies in vocal performance or music education, with an emphasis on voice
  • Must be enrolled/enrolling full-time at an accredited public or private nonprofit educational institution

Charles D. Whitmer Fund “Work, Save, Invest” Scholarship

An award that exists to help persons with an entrepreneurial spirit, at any age, attend – on a full-time basis – an accredited nonprofit four-year college or university.

Eligible Students:

  • Resident of Cuyahoga, Lorain, Lake or Geauga county
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA

 

The J. Paris Mosley Scholarship

An award with nationwide eligibility for those intending to matriculate to an accredited nonprofit educational institution who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing OR who have a relative living in their household who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing.

Eligible Students:

  • Use American Sign Language in everyday life
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA

 

Derek Owens Memorial Scholarship

An award commemorating the life of Cleveland Police officer Derek Owens by enhancing opportunities for higher education for graduating high school seniors in the City of Cleveland’s 4th District.

Eligible Students:

  • Graduating high school senior or recent graduate (within the past 12 months)
  • Resident of the 4th district of the Cleveland Police Department (southeastern Cleveland, see map for details)
  • 2.5 minimum GPA

Terry M. Speth Service Professional Memorial Scholarship

The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarships to students pursuing a career in diagnostic imaging.

Eligible Students:

  • Enrolled in a biomedical or electronic engineering program or have biomedical or electronic engineering work experience
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA

The Wilma A. Chapman Scholarship Fund

Established to enhance scholarship opportunities for persons with mental challenges who aspire and have the potential to succeed in undertaking college/university course work at either the undergraduate or graduate level.

Eligible Students:

  • Northeast Ohio resident
  • Diagnosed with a mental illness in one of the following categories: schizophrenia, mood disorders or anxiety disorders
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA

Ann-Marie Ogletree Child Development Scholarship

Exists to advance education by providing scholarships to residents of Greater Cleveland pursuing the study of early childhood education, counseling, or a related field.

Eligible Students:

  • Resident of Cleveland or a city within the First Suburbs Consortium
  • Pursuing or planning to pursue a degree in early childhood education, counseling, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2.75 GPA

The Ruth Alice Jacobs Roe Scholarship

To provide scholarship support for a college junior or senior pursuing a nursing career or a member of St. Clair Memorial Hospital’s nursing staff who is interested in pursuing additional nursing education.

Eligible Students:

  • Pursuing a nursing career
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA 

Roy W. and Wilma Cade Scholarship

To provide scholarships to students who are pursuing studies applicable to a major in the Christian ministry.

Eligible Students:

  • Resident of Cleveland or an inner suburb
  • Pursuing educational studies in Christian ministry
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA 

Robert E. and Ada Hagan Public Service Scholarship

Established to provide scholarship support for students attending or accepted at Cleveland State University Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs pursuing a public service career.

Eligible Students:

  • Attending or accepted at Cleveland State University Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs
  • Ohio resident & registered voter
  • Pursuing a career in public service
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA

Charles Hildreth Kelso Scholarship

Allocates two scholarships to deserving graduating seniors from Glenville High School and Collinwood High School.

Eligible Students:

  • Graduating senior from Glenville High School or Collinwood High School
  • Majoring in education
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA

Diane O. McDaniel Scholarship

Established by Cleveland HR executive Diane O. McDaniel, this scholarship reflects her appreciation for her Cleveland Public School education at Glenville High School and her commitment to supporting the education and development of Cleveland’s youth.

Eligible Students:

  • Graduating high school senior from Glenville High School or Ginn Academy OR previous McDaniel Scholarship recipient
  • 2.75 minimum GPA

The Albert W. Geater Memorial Scholarship

An award for deserving Northeast Ohio students studying accounting at any accredited nonprofit educational institution.

Eligible Students:

  • Resident of Northeast Ohio OR accepted/enrolled in an accredited nonprofit educational institution in Northeast Ohio
  • Majoring in accounting
  • Minimum 2.75 GPA

Cydney Weingart Scholarship

Provides support for public high school graduates enrolled in college as a freshman or sophomore, or enrolled in a vocational training program.

Eligible Students:

  • Graduate of a public high school
  • Cuyahoga County resident
  • Minimum 3.5 GPA

Charlotte Alexander Scholarship

Established by the Educational Trust of the Inner City Protestant Parish to provide scholarship support for deserving individuals to further and/or complete their formal education.

Eligible Students:

  • Cleveland resident
  • High school senior or adult up to age 28
  • GPA between 2.0 and 3.3

Cleveland’s Future Engineers

Created to provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors who have demonstrated both an interest and academic achievement in math, science, engineering, or computer technology

Eligible Students:

  • Resident of Cuyahoga County
  • Demonstrated interest and academic achievement in STEM
  • Preference for applicants pursuing a career in civil engineering
  • Minimum 3.2 GPA

The Ruth Burda Motzer Scholarship

Established to support students from Cuyahoga, Lake or Geauga County who demonstrate financial need.

Eligible Students:

  • High school senior or graduate from Cuyahoga, Lake, or Geauga County
  • Preference given to those studying health science, law, or education
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA

The Luke Edmond Cox Scholarship

Established to provide financial support for college to high school or junior college graduates with financial need. Students do not have to be at the top of their class but must be motivated and desirous of earning a college degree.

Eligible Students:

  • Minimum 2.0 GPA

Stephanie Tubbs Jones Memorial Scholarship

Established in memory of the Honorable Stephanie Tubbs Jones, this scholarship was created by her family and friends to support graduating seniors from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.

Eligible Students:

  • High school senior from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District
  • Minimum 2.6 GPA

Improve Consulting and Training Group: Bagby, Palmer Memorial Scholarship

To provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District or its inner-ring suburbs who will be attending a qualified educational institution.

Eligible Students:

  • Pursuing undergraduate coursework acceptable toward a degree with a focus in STEM
  • Graduate of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District or a school in one of the following inner-ring suburbs (listed in PDF)
  • Can demonstrate consistent community service
  • Minimum 3.5 GPA

ALCOA Fund Scholarship

Established to provide support for students who are graduates of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District or a Catholic school in Greater Cleveland (preferably Cuyahoga County).

Eligible Students:

  • Graduate of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District or a Catholic school in Greater Cleveland
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

Boyd Family Scholarship

Established to support to graduating seniors of Glenville High School.

Eligible Students:

  • Graduating senior from Glenville High School
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Active church member

Cleveland Women’s City Club Scholarship

Awards graduates of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District who are accepted at an accredited college or university in the United States.

Eligible Students:

  • Cleveland Metropolitan School District graduate
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • A topic-specific essay
  • Letters of reference should include one from a teacher and one from a community agency

Lillian Louise Mayle White Memorial Scholarship

Created to advance education by providing scholarships to graduating high school seniors from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District who will be attending a post-secondary educational institution. 

Eligible Students:

  • Graduating high school senior from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District 
  • Majoring in education
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

Reverend Dr. Marvin A. McMickle Scholarship

To provide one-time scholarship assistance to worthy students pursuing community service-based college degrees, with a preference for urban education majors. 

Eligible Students:

  • EITHER: Resident of one the cities listed in the PDF
    OR: Member of Antioch Baptist Church  
    AND:
  • Graduating high school senior 
  • Pursuing a degree commensurate with a community service-based career 
  • Minimum 2.75 GPA

McKinney Family Fund Scholarship

Established to advance education by providing scholarships to graduating high school seniors and/or graduate students seeking post-secondary education to reach their fullest potential. 

Eligible Students:

  • High school senior or graduate
  • Resident of Ohio for a minimum of 2 years
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA

Reverend A. William Jamerson Memorial Scholarship

Provides scholarship support for active church members who reside in the city of Cleveland or an inner-ring suburb who plan to enroll in an accredited college or university in pursuit of higher education.

Eligible Students:

  • Resident of Cleveland or one of the following inner-ring suburbs listed in the PDF
  • Active church member
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA

The Covia Aspire Scholarship

Encourages the career aspirations of promising young people in Covia family by supporting employee dependents who are pursuing post-secondary education or training.

Eligible Students:

  • Dependent of an eligible Covia employee
  • Under age 26
  • Minimum 2.75 unweighted GPA or GED score of 2.89

Perlman Foundation PK Management Employee Scholarship

Aims to advance education by providing scholarships to dependents of PK Management Company employees.

Eligible Students:

  • Dependent of any eligible employee
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA

Tri-Vantage, LLC Scholarship

Established to provide scholarship support for employees’ children and grandchildren who are pursuing post-secondary and post-baccalaureate academic study.

Eligible Students:

  • Child or grandchild of a regular employee of Tri-Vantage, LLC and any parent, subsidiary, division, successor, or survivor entity
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA

The Robert D. Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund

To provide scholarship support for members, or their children, of Communications Workers of America (CWA).

Eligible Students:

  • Member or child of member of Communications Workers of America – District 4 with minimum 18 months tenure
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA

Ohio Laborers Future Leaders of America Scholarship

For dependent children of members of local affiliates of Laborers’ District Council of Ohio.

Eligible Students:

  • Child (natural, adopted, stepchild, or grandchild) of an active member in good standing of any local affiliate of the Laborers’ District Council of Ohio
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

Northwest Emergency Team Fund Scholarship

Supports children of police officers, firefighters and paramedics in western Cleveland suburbs.

Eligible Students:

  • Child of first responder for one of the following cities: Bay Village, North Olmsted, Westlake, Lakewood, Rocky River or Fairview Park
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA
