College Students

College Now staff and volunteer mentors help college students navigate through their academic journeys and connect with the educational pathways that lead to fulfilling careers.

Personalized Support for Current College Students

The road through higher education doesn’t come with a universal roadmap, so College Now provides enrolled students with support to get them across the finish line to graduation. Since 2011, College Now’s Mentoring Program has helped thousands of students navigate their higher education journeys, providing not just academic guidance, but also invaluable social capital.

Scholarships with Support: College Now Mentoring

If you are awarded a scholarship through College Now, our support doesn’t end with a payment to your institution. Each College Now and Say Yes Cleveland scholarship recipient is paired with a mentor to help guide them through their college journey. These mentors — college-educated volunteers from across Northeast Ohio — offer personalized advice, encouragement and support to help students navigate challenges and stay on track toward their goals.

Students and mentors commit to communicating at least twice a month and meeting (virtually or in person) at least three times each year.

To strengthen these connections, College Now also hosts events throughout the year that give mentors and students the chance to connect, network and build meaningful relationships in person.

Tri-C Scholars Program

Launched in 2019 through a partnership between College Now and Say Yes Cleveland, the Tri-C Scholars program supports Cuyahoga Community College students as they pursue their academic and career goals. The program pairs Tri-C-enrolled Say Yes Cleveland scholarship recipients with College Now on-campus success coaches who offer personalized guidance in academics, campus life, personal wellness and navigating college systems.

Since its inception, nearly 1,000 students from high school graduating classes of 2019 through 2023 have participated in the coaching program, and the results are clear. Students who complete success coaching are 60% more likely to continue their studies and are 70% more likely to graduate, compared to non-coached students. From the first semester through transfer or graduation, Tri-C Scholars benefit from a strong foundation of encouragement, accountability and connection — proving the power of investing in students every step of the way.
